Handmade Ju Lun Zhu Zhu Ni Clay Teapot
Handmade Ju Lun Zhu Zhu Ni Clay Teapot
This Ju Lun Zhu shaped teapot was handmade in Yixing of original Zhu Ni clay. On close inspection, you will find grainy texture like pear. Due to its coarse texture, it's more challenging to control the temperature in a kiln to achieve an even appearance. We especially like the clay quality and shape design of this teapot.
“Ju Lun” in Chinese literally means “large boat”.“Large boat” is used to describe the shape of this teapot because it has a large round base to allow your tea to circulate/move. It’s a perfect shape for big tea leaves. There is no built-in filter for this teapot, but it comes with a stainless filter.
Zhuni clay contains extremely fine particles; therefore it is very sticky and elastic. It also has two distinguish characteristics:
1. Clay is rich in iron
2. Clay contains less percentage of zinc, copper, or magnesium.
Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which can season it and enhance the flavor of the tea that you use it with over time. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only, such as ripe puer, raw puer, oolong, black tea, etc, and never wash it with soap or anything else besides water.

Additional Information:
It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
