Tong Tian Xiang (Wu Yi Mountain)
Tong Tian Xiang (Wu Yi Mountain)
Don’t confuse this tea with Tong Tian Xiang Dan Cong from the Phoenix Mountain! This tea is sourced directly from a tea farmer in Wuyi Mountain Reserve. The tea farmer named this tea Tong Tian Xiang because of its unique aroma and texture. The tea leaves are collected from an unattended tea garden in the Zheng Yan area in Wu Yi Mountain with an average elevation of 800 meters. Harvested in early April 2021. It can be steeped 6 - 8 times in a Gaiwan vessel.
This is not your typical yancha. Rather than prioritizing strong minerality and rocky notes, this tea leans more towards subtle and creamy. It almost reminds us of a mild black tea. As you brew, note the differences between the aroma of the dry and wet leaves. The dry leaves hint at the flavors of the brewed tea - milky, floral, and nutty. The wet leaves have an unexpected brightness and lean more toward juicy fruits with savory undertones. We highly recommend this tea if you’re looking to add an easy-drinking, gentle companion to your stash.
Suggested Brewing:
No rinsing is required. 6 - 8 grams of tea is suggested to put into your gaiwan (100 - 110 ml). Steep with boiling hot water (100℃/ 212℉) for only 3 seconds, and add 3 - 5 seconds for the sequent infusions according to your preference. It can be steeped 6 - 8 times.
