Sourced directly from a tea farmer in Wuyi Mountain Reserve. The tea leaves were harvested in early April 2021 from the Zheng Yan area in Wu Yi Mountain at an average elevation of 800 meters.
Jin Jun Mei black tea is one of the most labor-intensive and demanding teas to produce. Our golden and downy Jin Jun Mei tea leaves were made exclusively from tiny spring buds, and required thousands of hand-picked golden buds to make a single pound of finished tea. It can be steeped 6 - 8 times in a Gaiwan vessel.
If assertive black teas aren’t your thing, we would recommend our Competition Grade Jin Jun Mei for its more sweet, mild, and refined character. It has lovely, nuanced notes of fruit, flowers, honey, charcoal, and sweet potato. Honestly, we could keep naming even more notes, but the list would be too long! The taste is flavorful and delicate, bright and rich, complex and clean all at the same time. We love how the balance of flavors in this Competition Grade Jin Jun Mei makes for an easy-drinking tea.
Suggested Brewing:
No rinsing is required. 6 - 8 grams of tea is suggested to put into your gaiwan (100 - 110 ml). Steep with boiling hot water (100℃/ 212℉) for only 3 seconds, and add 3 - 5 seconds for the sequent infusions according to your preference. It can be steeped 6 - 8 times.
