Handmade Yin & Yang Rough Zhu Ni Clay Yixing Teapot

Handmade Yin & Yang Rough Zhu Ni Clay Yixing Teapot

$239.00

This handmade Yixing teapot is inspired by ancient Chinese philosophy. Made of original rough mine clay, it features a simple pear shape with a Yin & Yang symbol on the lid. It’s particularly petite in size, yet has a wide opening which makes it easy to add tea leaves. The breathing hole is uniquely hidden on the side of the lid creating a clean look from above.

We especially like the small size, rough zhuni clay, and the inspiring Yin & Yang design. Hope this little teapot helps you find balance in life.

Zhuni is a type of Zisha (紫砂)Clay in Yixing, and it is known for its outstanding performance in creating teapots. The Zhuni teapot makes the taste of tea becomes soft, smooth and the flavor is very long-lasting.

Zhuni clay contains extremely fine particles, therefore it is very sticky and elastic. It also has two distinguishing characteristics:
1. Clay is rich in iron
2. Clay contains less percentage of zinc, copper, or magnesium.

Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which can in turn season it and enhance the flavor of the tea that you use it with over time. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only, such as ripe puer, raw puer, oolong, black tea, etc, and never wash it with soap or anything else besides water.

Additional Information:

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
