Handmade Duan Ni Clay Rock & Bamboo Teapot
Handmade Duan Ni Clay Rock & Bamboo Teapot
Fully handmade by a potter in Yixing, China. Traditional Chinese painting provides endless inspiration for potters. Working at a small size, potters have to thoughtfully design the teapot to make it look more aesthetic with hand-painted patterns. We especially like the simplistic and freehand style of bamboo leaves and rock. It reminds us of a traditional Chinese garden.
That's a style (写意 in Chinese) of traditional Chinese painting that we especially like. A few handpainted strokes and lines are just enough to create an image and set the tone. The artist leaves so much room for us to imagine, and what is better than your imagination?
Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which over time can enhance the flavor of the tea that you brew in it. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only. Particularly for our duan ni clay teapot, we recommend you to dedicate it to fermented tea such as ripe puerh, oolong, black tea, etc.

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
