Handmade Qinghua Hulu Gaiwan

Handmade Qinghua Hulu Gaiwan

$0.00

We hold a deep fondness for Qinghua styled teaware, as our collections can never seem to have enough. Handcrafted by Xin Ying in Jingdezhen, China, her pottery exudes timeless elegance, often adorned with intricate patterns inspired by nature such as flowers, plants, and occasionally motifs reminiscent of Chinese calligraphy.

These particular gaiwans feature a hulu pattern with natural leaves. The gourd, or Hulu, holds a significant place in Chinese tradition and is closely associated with good luck and auspiciousness. Its unique shape and symbolism of longevity, good fortune, and protection against evil spirits have made it a cherished symbol in Chinese culture.

Xin Ying deliberately crafted the gaiwans to be lightweight, and the wide-edge design ensures they won't burn your fingertips. Their classic Qinghua style adds a timeless charm to your tea set.

It’s food safe, of course. And also dishwasher safe. However, I strongly recommend that you wash and dry it by hand, and use it gently. Please do not use on an open flame, gas or electric stove-top. And try to avoid alternating hot and cold, which could cause cracking.
