Handmade by a potter in Yixing, China, this Fei Yun shaped Yixing teapot is made of original Qing Shui clay. Qing shui clay was more refined than other types of clay and had an extremely smooth appearance. Qing Shui clay is very responsive and breathable. This particular shape has a tall and straight body which provides enough room for your tea leaves to dance freely, the straight spout makes pouring smooth. We especially like the handle design and big capacity of this teapot.
Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of its porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which can season it and enhance the flavor of the tea that you use it with over time. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only, such as ripe puer, raw puer, oolong, black tea, etc., and never wash it with soap or anything else besides water.

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
