Handmade Half Moon Chao Zhou Zhu Ni Teapot

Handmade Half Moon Chao Zhou Zhu Ni Teapot

$120.00

Handmade by a potter in Chaozhou, China, this teapot is made of refined zhu ni clay. Local potters in Chaozhou call it "Chaozhou Xiao Hong Ni".

The texture of chao zhou zhu ni clay is smooth and flexible. Chaozhou zhu ni teapots are less breathable than typical Yixing teapots, and consequently preserve more the original aroma and taste from your tea than yixing clay does.

The "half-porcelain” nature of the clay allows this pot to hold the high temperatures and while maintaining the high aroma of the tea. Because of these characteristics, we personally think it's the best type of teapot to awaken the high and delicate aroma of your Dancong, yancha, tieguanyin, and Taiwanese oolongs.

This teapot has a curvy design that draws inspiration from the half moon. It looks particularly charming to our eyes. The wide open mouth of this teapot makes it easy to put tea leaves and the wide base provides plenty of space for your favorite oolong tea leaves to dance around.

Additional Information:

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
