Handmade Aged Duan Ni Clay Teapot
Handmade Aged Duan Ni Clay Teapot
Handmade by a potter in Yixing, China, this teapot features a low profile shape and was made with original mine duan ni clay that was collected and aged by the potter. The texture of the clay is relatively sandy and rough. The body of this teapot is flat and round, and it includes a built-in ball filter. The big, round body of this teapot allows big tea leaves to dance and expand freely. The wide open mouth of this teapot makes it easy to put in tea leaves. We particularly like the unpretentious appearance and user-friendly traits of this teapot.
Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which over time can enhance the flavor of the tea that you brew in it. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only. Particularly for our aged duanni clay teapot, we recommend you to dedicate it to fermented tea such as ripe puerh, oolong, black tea, etc.

Additional Information:
It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
