Fully Handmade Yixing Zini Sanzu Teapot

Fully Handmade Yixing Zini Sanzu Teapot

$275.00

Fully handmade by a potter in Ding Shan County, Yixing, China, this teapot features a unique shape and was made with original mine zini clay that was collected and aged by the potter. The form of teapot looks like a pear-shaped pumpkin. We particularly like the Sanzu (three feet in Chinese) design and delicate shape of this teapot. This teapot is dark brown in color and it has iron filter attached on the inside to filter the leaves when you pour.

Zini clay is high in iron components, and its dual porosity structure makes it good for air convection when brewing tea. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which can in turn season it and enhances the flavor of the tea that you use it with over time. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only. Particularly for our ju lun zini clay teapot, we recommend you to dedicate it to fermented tea such as ripe puerh, oolong, black tea, etc.

Never wash it with soap or anything else besides water.

Additional Information:

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
