Jian Zhan pottery was an inseparable part of tea culture during the Song Dynasty. It's the perfect example of Chinese black porcelain. It’s food safe, of course. And also dishwasher safe. However, I strongly recommend that you wash and dry it by hand, and use it gently. Please do not use on an open flame, gas or electric stove-top. And try to avoid alternating hot and cold, which could cause cracking.
