Handmade Warrior Carved Zi Ni Teacup
Handmade Warrior Carved Zi Ni Teacup
These hand carved teacup were handmade in Yixing of Zi Ni and Duanni clay. On close inspection, you will find tiny black grains. These grains are found in red iron ore, and they turn black under high temperature. The texture of the clay is relatively sandy and rough. We particularly like the sophisticated carving of traditional Chinese warriors and classic shape of this teacup.
Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the teacup, which over time can enhance the flavor of the tea that you brew in it. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teacup to one type of tea only. Particularly for our zini clay teacup, we recommend you to dedicate it to fermented tea such as ripe puerh, oolong, black tea, etc.

Additional Information:
It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
