Handmade by a potter from Yunnan, China. This white teapot is made from 100% Jianshui purple clay. Purple clay ("zitao" in Chinese) has actually five colors: purple, red, white, yellow and green. And this teapot is made from naturally occurring black clay.
Jianshui purple clay teapot is unglazed therefore it's easier for the pot to gradually absorb the flavor of the tea that you use it for. Therefore, it's highly recommended that you designate this teapot for one type of tea, such as ripe puer, raw puer, oolong, black tea, etc.
Our new black shipiao jianshui teapots have a matte appearance which is slightly different from our older version.

It’s food-safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use this bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
