As you can see from the pictures, this teapot has two tiny black spots on each side. The mixture of clay contains several tiny grains of sand, or possibly another substance. After being glazed and fired, these spots start to show. It's hard to notice before the potter puts it into the kiln, because they're so tiny and you can barely see them. Due to this blemish, we are offering a lower price.

Jianshui purple clay teapot is unglazed therefore it's easier for the pot to gradually absorb the flavor of the tea that you use it for. Therefore, it's highly recommended that you designate this teapot for one type of tea, such as ripe puer, raw puer, oolong, black tea, etc. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use this bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
