Golden Autumn Garden Japanese Teacup
Golden Autumn Garden Japanese Teacup
Made in Japan in the 1990s, this vintage teacup (Kihara) depicts a scenery of a beautiful garden with Japanese cherry blossoms and maple leaves in the golden autumn. Hand-painted by artists from Japan, the traditional floral pattern was expertly transferred from a prepared design onto the porcelain. Different from the traditional Chinese Gaiwan, the lid is a little bigger than the cup and is used to keep the tea warm/for decoration. It’s traditionally used for green tea. Its versatile design allows it to be used as a teacup as well as a tea bowl.
Teacup specifications:
Material: Porcelain
Height: 9 cm
Diameter: 10 cm
Volume: holds 5 oz / 150 ml
Additional Information:
It’s food safe, of course. And also dishwasher safe. However, I strongly recommend that you wash and dry it by hand, and use it gently. Please do not use on an open flame, gas or electric stove-top. And try to avoid alternating hot and cold, which could cause cracking.
