Handmade Starry Night Gaiwan
This starry blue glazed gaiwan captured my attention at a weekend bazaar in Jingdezhen, China. I was struck by its shape... slim, delicate, and graceful, and by its unique, glossy glaze.
Each of these gaiwans features a prominent blue or a purplish blue glossy glaze. The skillful potter made the walls super thin, so they are very light and comfortable to hold in the hand. The design of the edges also makes the gaiwan easy to hold, and your fingers won't get burned.
They are covered with sporadic carbon trappings and peacock eyes. Each gaiwan is similar in size and dimension, with slight variations in the glaze color and carbon trapping patterns.

Additional Information:
It’s food safe, of course. And also dishwasher safe. However, I strongly recommend that you wash and dry it by hand, and use it gently. Please do not use on an open flame, gas or electric stove-top. And try to avoid alternating hot and cold, which could cause cracking.
