Fully Handmade Zi Sha Clay Overhead Handle Kettle
Fully Handmade Zi Sha Clay Overhead Handle Kettle
This overhead handle kettle was fully handmade by an artist in Jingdezhen, China with a mixture of zisha clay from Yixing and unglazed clay from Jingdezhen. On close inspection, you will find rough brown grains. These grains are found in red iron ore, and they turn dark under high temperature. We particularly like the roundness, rough texture, and unpretentious character of this kettle.
Its versatile design allows it to be used for heating up water as well as directly boiling tea. Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which over time can enhance the flavor of the tea that you brew in it. For this reason, we recommend dedicating this kettle to fermented and aged tea such as ripe puerh, hei cha, liu bao cha, etc. We particularly enjoy boiling aged white tea in this kettle.
Please note that it’s safe to use this kettle on an open flame, gas or electric stove-top. And try to avoid alternating hot and cold, which could cause cracking.
