Wood Fired Rough Clay Solo Teacup
Wood Fired Rough Clay Solo Teacup
Handmade by the same potter who creates the “Wood Fired Rough Clay Teapot” in Quanzhou, Fujian, these teacups feature a natural orange flame and smoky glaze which appears glossy. It was created with rough clay, and the unique appearance is a result of direct exposure to fire and ash over a long period. These teacups are similar to each other in size and dimension, but each is wonderfully special due to the unpredictable glaze and finish.
Traditional wood-fired kilns have become rare in China today. The laborious process of wood-firing creates a unique, natural glazing, that can’t be achieved in more common and easier to use electric kilns. The special texture, color, and pattern of wood-fired teaware is a result of direct exposure to fire and ash over a long period, making wood-fired teaware some of the most sought-after teaware today.
