Dark Brown Xi Shi Wood Fired Teapot

Dark Brown Xi Shi Wood Fired Teapot

$0.00

Handmade by a potter studio specializing in wood fired teaware in Jingdezhen, China, this teapot features a glossy dark brown glaze and grainy texture that is achieved by long exposure to wood firing. We especially like the unpretentious glaze change and perfect size of this teapot. It features a wide opening, making it easier to pour in tea leaves, a short spout for fast pouring, and a comfortable handle.

Traditional wood-fired kilns have become rare in China today. The laborious process of wood-firing creates a unique and natural glazing that can’t be achieved in more common and easier to use electric kilns. The special texture, color, and pattern of wood-fired teaware is a result of direct exposure to fire and ash over a long period, making wood-fired teaware some of the most sought-after teaware today.
